Independence Day Celebrations 2016, New Delhi, India

Narendra Modi's Independence Day speech: Fulltext : India,News

Today, all Indians in the country and also abroad are celebrating the festival of independence. On this day of sacred festival of independence, the prime servant of India extends greetings to all dear countrymen.
I am present amidst you not as the Prime Minister, but as the Prime Servant. The freedom struggle was fought for so many years, so many generations laid down their lives, innumerable people sacrificed their lives and youth, spent their entire lives behind bars. Today, I pay my respect, greetings and homage to all those who laid their lives for the country`s independence.

I have already said, I salute all the ex-Prime Ministers and earlier governments who have brought the country thus far. But I am going to say something else and it may not be seen from political point of view. When I came to Delhi and noticed an insider view, I felt what it was and I was surprised to see it. It seemed as if dozens of separate governments are running at the same time in one main government. It appeared that everyone has its own fiefdom. I could observe disunity and conflict among them. One department is taking on the other department and taking on to the extent that two departments of the same government are fighting against each other by approaching Supreme Court. This disunity, this conflict among people of the same country! How come we can take the country forward? And that is why I have started making efforts for razing those walls; I have started making efforts at making the government,  not an assembled entity, but an organic unity, an organic entity, a harmonious whole- with one aim, one mind, one direction, one energy....

My beloved countrymen, today Indians all over are celebrating Independence Day.
My dear Indians, my greetings to all of you on this day.
I am here not as pradhan mantri (Prime Minister) but as pradhan sevak (prime servant in service of country). (PM Modi's Independence Day Speech: Who Said What)
Independence can became an inspiration to take India to new heights.
These days give us inspiration and they showcase the national character. These days can inspire us to take India to newer heights.
This country has not been made by politicians, kings or governments. It has been made by farmers, labourers, youth, our mothers and sisters.
Our country has progressed because of the hard work of all these people.
I salute all those who sacrificed themselves for India's freedom. (PM Modi's Top 10 Quotes)
It is the pride of Constitution that a boy from a poor family has unfurled the flag at Red fort today.
It is the strength of our Constitution. I thank the makers of the Constitution.
All the previous governments have a hand in developing India. The state governments have a hand in it as well. I offer my respects to all previous governments and Prime Ministers.
We should walk together, work together and progress together. We should move ahead with this mantra. (For PM's Speech, No Bullet-Proof Glass is a Break from Tradition)
The nation should move towards one target, one direction, one intention and one decision.
I assure Indians I will develop India. This I say standing under the Tricolour.
I am an outsider to Delhi. But an outsider came to Delhi and got an insider view in the last two months. (I Am an Outsider to Delhi, Stresses PM Modi in His Speech)
This is not a platform for politics but nation building.

Today we are celebrating 70th Independence, this day Prime minister of India give a speech from the Delhi Lal Killa Delhi Red Fort and give a salute to the tri-color flag. Everyone gives rip to all shoulder who have lost their lifetime of Freedom war. Every Indian sung India national anthem Jan Gan Man by standing. We also remember great personality who fought for freedom like Subhash Chandra Bose, Chander Shekhar Aajad and Dr. Rajender Prasad and Mahatma Gandhi who called the father of the nation. We all remember them with warm respect who played a vital role for India.

A small funny drama for Independance day

Once upon a time Bharat Ma (Mother India) was sleeping on a bed.

The eldest son came to meet her and saw her sleeping. So he sat at her head. Later, her second son came, and seeing her sleeping, he sat at her feet.

When Bharat Ma awoke, she saw the second son first.

“Beta, what do you want?” she asked the second.

The eldest son was upset.

“Ma!” he cried, “I came first. I should be given the right to talk first to you.”

Bharat Ma gently turned to the eldest.

“What do you want, my child?”

“I’ve come to ask for your something,” said the eldest.

“Even I’ve come to ask for something,” said the second.

“Whatever this man has to ask you, don’t give it to him, Ma! Only the first-born should have the right to you.  I ask that you remove him from your presence.” said the elder angrily, pointing to the second.

“Ma, you have always treated me as your child. You have never shown favoritism. Please don’t send me away from you. He’s forcing me to go.” said the second, pointing to the elder.

Bharat Ma lifted both of her sons to each lap.

“Look my dear children. You know that I cannot take away any of your right of being my children. You were always my children, you will always be my children.” she said both, but especially to the younger. And to the eldest, she said, “Son, as the elder son I offer you a boon. Anything you want from me, you can have. Only, you can’t take away the right of the younger of being my child.”

“Then I want everything,” the eldest quickly said, delighted.

“Everything?” asked Bharat Ma.

“Yes everything,” said the eldest. “I want the right over your land and waters, I want your power and your identity, I want your prestige and your wealth, I want your culture and your people. I want everything.”

“But what about me?” asked the younger, concerned.

“Once I get everything,” laughed the eldest, “you will get nothing. And then you either work for me or you can leave.”

“But I don’t want to leave, Ma, I don’t want to leave you.” cried the younger brother, visibly distraught.

“Don’t worry, my child. I give you a boon too,” said Ma gently.

“I want some land…”

“Sorry, it’s all mine.” said the eldest, delighted.

“I want your identity…”

“That’s mine to fashion.”

“I want to take some of your culture and…”

“Culture is mine as well…”

“Ma, it’s not fair. He’s taken everything.” complained the younger, in tears.

“Not everything my child. Because you are my child, there is already a part of me in you. No one, not even I, can take that away from you.”

“What does that matter? I have the power and the authority to use Ma’s identity for whatever I want. I can discount her image in you by discounting anything associated with you.”

“Ma, I know I am your child. But I am scared. I am scared of my brother,” said the younger shaking. “What use is your image? I can’t do anything with it?”

“You can, my son, you can. You can serve me.”

“I have everything,” said the eldest to Ma. “You can’t give him anything!”

“I am allowing your brother to serve me,” she said to the elder. “His service is not my right to take, but his to give.”

“But if I serve you, Ma, won’t my elder brother exploit my service? I would end up serving him.” said the younger, a little scared.

“When you serve me, my child, you will serve me. What your brother does after that, may not be in your control. You do, what you think is best for me, because I am in you and you are in me.”

“Then I agree, Ma. I want to serve you. And that’s what I want.”

“Fool! I’ve got everything from Mother.” laughed the eldest.

“And I have Mother,” said the younger, finally understanding.

Man: Sir, I need a CC for my daughter. Here are my ration card and the details of the child’s background.

Narrator: The officer verifies all the necessary papers.

Officer: Everything’s in order, but for one….

Man: I don’t understand sir…

Narrator: The officer rings the bell. His assistant enters.

Officer: Take him out and explain the procedures here.

Assistant: Yes sir. [After coming out] Give me 500 rupees. You know the procedure or what?

Man: But sir… I am from a poor family and I have enough money only to pay my child’s school fee and today’s the last day too. Please, sir…

Assistant: Even I have a child who’s been asking for a new cricket set and I have a few rupees short. So either hand over the money or else… well, you know the process.

Narrator: The man gives away, half-heartedly.

Assistant: You must attach 200 rupees along with the details if you want to get it signed.

Man: But sir…I…

Assistant: If you are to argue with the officer like this. He may even tear the CC in anger and you will never get it.

Narrator: The man hands out the money bitterly cursing under his breath

Man: They get a salary from the government for doing their jobs and yet… Don’t know how I’m going to pay my child’s fee…

Bharat Mata: Goodness… This is outrageous!

Narrator: But then her spirits rose a little.

BM: There’ll always be one or two black sheep everywhere. Let me try some other place. Surely it’ll be a better story there.

Narrator: She turns towards a building, hoping it would brighten things up. It was the Electricity Board Department.

THOMAS GAGE:   Well you see that tea party did make King George very unhappy and I'm here to teach the Colonists a lesson.

NARRATOR #1:   Ah, they forgot to serve milk first with the tea!  I noticed that.

THOMAS GAGE:   No, you ninny!

NARRATOR #1:   That pi is the ratio of the circumference of a circle and its diameter?

THOMAS GAGE:   What? No, you nincompoop!  No one, no one destroys, lovely, delicious English tea and the 13 Colonies had better not think about (whispering) independence.

NARRATOR #2:   I'm sorry, Sir.  What did you say?

THOMAS GAGE:   (Whispering) Independence.

NARRATOR #2:   Sorry, still didn't hear it.

THOMAS GAGE:   INDEPENDENCE !

NARRATOR #1:   That sounds like a good idea!

THOMAS GAGE:   Arrest that man and put him in a prison ship 'til he rots!

NARRATOR #1:   But, I'm a narrator: you can't do this.

THOMAS GAGE:   Very well, let him go, but my spies will be watching you.  (To audience:)  And, you lot as well!  Forward march!

The foreign ambassadors and dignitaries also participate in the celebrations. The prime minister unfurls the national flag. A guard of honor is given by the local police and armed forces personnel. A salute of 21 guns is fired. The military band plays the national anthem. The Prime Minister greets the ambassadors seated at the parapet and delivers a speech.

Homage is paid to those who sacrificed their lives for the freedom of our country. After the Prime Minister’s speech, the functions come to an end with the recital of our national anthem, ‘Jan Gina Manna’ and the crowd begins to melt away.
